TDP President Chandrabau Naidu, who is on a hunger strike for the past seven days has been forcibly shifted to an Intensive Care Unti (ICU), after doctors reportedly shared concern that he could slip into coma or he could have a cardiac arrest.

The TDP President has been on an indefinite hunger-strike demanding enhancement of compensation to calamity-hit farmers.

Earlier today, talks initiated by Andhra Pradesh government with Opposition parties for resolving Naidu's fast failed as Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy refused to concede to the TDP President's demands.

The principal Opposition TDP, CPI and CPM walked out of the meeting in protest against the government's adamant attitude.

"The Chief Minister only reiterated what he announced in the Assembly and stoutly refused to enhance compensation for farmers. He says the government has no money to enhance relief. The government clearly did not have an open mind to resolve the crisis," said TDP, CPI and CPM leaders after they walked out of the all-party meeting.

They will announce their future course of action later in the evening.

Of the six ministers who attended the meeting, three left midway.

Other Opposition parties like BJP, Lok Satta and TRS too did not express satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting.
